Missionary Care Team |
Missionaries:
Location:
Mexico, Amigo Fiel Ministries
Team Background:
Ministry Description: The church plant ministry includes a Sunday service and a Wednesday bible study and reaches out to the local community through food and clothing distribution, hospital visitaion to children with cancer, and assistance to the elderly at a local nursing home. The Garcias also host short-term mission teams from various churches, including Calvary of Albuquerque, at a small missions’ base near the Casa Amigo Fiel facility. This base contains the Garcia’s home and a building that houses dormitories for 60 short-term team members, a dining hall, and a kitchen. Currently, 11 acres is being purchased to house a new larger base where there will be more room for the growing church, housing for short-term mission teams and a School of Ministry. Carlos is also the Mexico Logistics Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. Each year Carlos coordinates the logistics for the distribution of 500.000 shoeboxes (small boxes filled with practical and fun gifts for children ages newborn to 12 years old) in the country of Mexico. As part of Amigo Fiel, Carlos and the church distributes about 20,000 of these shoeboxes to needy children in Juarez. The Garcia's care team leader, Dale Olson, takes Albuquerque brethren to Juarez on the third weekend of each month to assist on the construction of Amigo Fiel.
