Missionaries:
Lori
Location:
United States
Team Background: A lifelong Christian, and a 2001 graduate of Calvary School of Ministry, Lori came to us from Arizona by way of California. Well educated in the field of sociology, Lori put her skills to work in Calvary Chapel Albuquerque missions department before signing on to Partners to go to the mission field in the spring of 2003.
She ministered with Partners for 2 years serving Karen refugees from
Burma, working primarily with women and children.
She also served short-term with Partners in Indonesia after the 2004
Tsunami, which was her first exposure to working
with Muslims. Lori has attended seminary
in the US, completing an MA in Pastoral Counseling
at Columbia International University, as well as becoming better equipped for Muslim ministry.
Ministry Description:
After serving from 2008-2010 in the Middle East with Iraqi refugees, I have returned to the US to continue and expand this work. I will be working at Frontiers US Sending Base in Phoenix, AZ as a FieldPrep Coach, where I will assess, mentor, train, and place new missionaries to the Muslim World, specifically those looking to go to the Middle East region. I also am an Advocate for Unengaged People Groups in the Middle East region, researching the current conditions of these groups, raising awareness and prayer for them, and advocating for new teams to go and serve amongst them. I also will be serving and living amongst the Iraqis in Phoenix, and involved in various forms of community outreach through a local church that works with the various refugee groups.
Prayer Concerns:
- Please pray for my adjustment back to American culture—I’ve been experiencing a lot of reverse culture shock, as well as an extended transition period that makes it hard to feel settled. Please pray for the provision of an apartment in a primarily Iraqi neighborhood in Phoenix. Please pray for building new relationships with local Iraqis, and for many opportunities to show and share the love of Jesus. Pray for my Arabic language skills to continue to grow, and not be lost! Pray for more workers to be raised up to go into the harvest fields of the Muslim world—especially to those areas that are unengaged, without any gospel witness.
Praise Reports:
- Thank Him for a good “goodbyes” as I left the field, and much encouragement and support as I’m now back in the US, traveling and meeting with ministry partners. Thank Him for the exciting new doors He’s opening up for me in this next season of ministry—I’m excited about what He is doing! And praise Him for what He is doing in the Muslim World—many are coming to follow Jesus, and many are hearing about Him, who have never had opportunity to hear before!
Team Needs:
- Relocation/Set-up Costs; Increased monthly support, as the cost of living is higher in the US than where I was in the Middle East!
